Review of Jim Butcher’s New Fantasy Novel in the Dresden Files Series, Twelve Months

One of the best fantasy author’s came out with another book in the Dresden Files series, in my opinion. Hopefully, you share the same opinion as me about Jim Butcher. This novel, Twelve Months, is book number eighteen. So, if you want to read the series, then you need to read the first book in the series which is Storm Front.

I won’t spoil the newest book just in case you need to go back and read others before this one. I suggest you read the books in order. There is character growth, plots, and storylines that make more sense if you read them in order. I recommend this series to any fantasy book lover. Give it a chance. Brandon Sandersons cannot be the other fantasy author you read.

My co-worker and I both love the way this author writes and creates new adventures and creatures to read about. We both got this novel this week because the release date was January 20, 2026. We both have already finished reading the novel and both enjoyed it.

It was in the others books that you must know what happens next because the previous book left it has a cliffhanger. I know we all get frustrated with cliffhangers rather it is in a book series or a television show. We all have been there at some point in our lives. Whether we want to admit to it or not. It is ok. You do not have to here. I understand.

This book is set after the war that took place in the previous books, Peace Talks and Battle Ground. You could say that this is the aftermath story that continues on in this world of magic in Chicago, Illinois.

The story continues on with the wizard, Harry Dresden. The local wizard. He is sarcastic, magical, smart, witty, tall, and more. He may not always follow the law, but he does want to do the right thing and the good thing to protect the people of his city and friends.

This series has wizards, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, mortals, local detectives, federal agents, and more types of characters. Which type of supernatural do you prefer the most? This series has everyone in a unique way.

You, readers, can pick up this book at Barnes and Noble, Books-A-Million, or any local bookstore near you. Well probably at the local bookstores. You may want to call first. I know it is on Amazon. I checked myself. Good price and you can order it right to your front door.

Go get this book! I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I have. If you have not read this series before, then go get book one. Try it and if you do not like it well at least you tried a new fantasy series. Expand your fantasy reading list. Make it grow into a longer list because all readers need a long impossible to be read pile. I know I got one. You might as well as have one too.

Have fun reading!
